EL MESSIES, GEORGE FRIEDRICH HÄNDEL

Händel va compondre l’oratori El Messies en tres setmanes. El seu llibretista va triar frases de la Bíblia per narrar en tres parts el Naixement, la Passió, la Resurrecció i l’Adveniment de Jesucrist. La part que més s’interpreta d’aquesta peça és el cèlebre “Al•leluia”. Escolta amb atenció els tres números que tanquen la segona part de l’oratori.

“He that dwelleth in heaven”

He that dwelleth in heaven

shall laugh them to scorn:

the Lord shall have them

in derision.

“Thou shalt break them”

Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron;

Thou shalt dash them in pieces

like a potter’s vessel.

“Hallelujah!”

Hallelujah, for the Lord God

Omnipotent reigneth, Hallelujah!

The Kingdom of this world is become the

Kingdom of our Lord, and of His Christ; and

He shall reign for ever and ever, Hallelujah!

King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, and

He shall reing for ever and ever, Hallelujah!
